Top Ways to Save Money When Building House

Saving Money Tips Building Home

How to avoid heartache when Constructing your dream House.

Building a new home can be expensive, but with these tips, you should be able to keep the costs down.

Building your house from the ground up can be a remarkably rewarding experience.  It gives you the chance to tailor your home to suit your tastes and to adapt to your family's needs, both today and in the future.  Building a house doesn't have to be a gruelling process, though.  Going through the process with your eyes open and with a company plan can save you heartache along the way.  Here are our top tips to save money during the building process.

Get Your Building Plans in Order to Save

Be sure you meticulously plan the specifics of your house.

What will the flow and layout of the rooms be?

What type of lighting will you use?

The number of power plugs and types of sockets (Regular plug or USB) are you going to put in (tip: you always need more than you think)?

There are a lot of useful tools for planning out the design of your dwelling.  Sites and software programs that allow you to create mock floorplans.  When in doubt, good old grid paper will do the job as well. You will also need to start keeping an eye on layout ideas that inspire you, which you want to emulate.

Special Tip: Consider starting a Pinterest board for every room of your home to file away illustrations of your favorite designs.  In addition to helping you plan, they will be a terrific point of reference to show your builders once construction is underway.

Building a home will be an expensive procedure.

It's likely you'll end up paying more than you expected.  That having been said, there are ways that you can save money.  Shop around for the best prices on fittings and fixtures, and on the materials, your builder will use.  Get multiple quotes for any item needed during the building procedure.
One great way to save money at the outset of the process is by picking a site that requires less preparation.

Hauling off dirt, removing stones or clearing brush is a costly part of building a home.
By Picking a lot that needs little preparation before construction commences can minimize these costs.

Become an owner-contractor if you're searching for deep savings, you could consider taking on the role of the proprietor.  This means you would handle the logistics of the home building process.  This doesn't necessarily require expertise in home construction, but it will require plenty of your time and some serious project management skills.

Saving money when building a home is possible you just have to have the time to do all the leg work.

Things to Stop Buying to Save Money

Stop Buying Cable TV

Ok, you're looking to save money. You have finally realized you're tired of making other people richer.

That is great!

So where do you start?

The number one thing to stop buying to save money is:

Cable TV!

Look first at monthly bills. Cable TV needs to go anyone paying for DirecTV or any other cable company truly needs to have their head examined. These cable companies are using you as a giant ATM machine. You pay them a high monthly bill just to have channels of worthless shows to watch. The cable companies like DirecTV then sell ad's (commercials) some cable companies use your private information to narrow those ad's down charging companies more money!

Not only are you handing them a check month in and month out but they are using your data to sell ad's and make more money.

Drop the expensive DirecTV service and buy a small antenna.

How much TV can you watch?

Couldn't your time be better spent than watching TV?

Think of all the things you could have accomplished in the time you watched Grey's Anatomy! FYI you can watch Grey's Anatomy free with an antenna. Well, Chris, I watch it on the DVR service that I pay for to my rich cable company. FYI there are inexpensive over the air DVR systems we will discuss in a later article.

The #1 "Things to Stop Buying to Save MOney."

Is cable TV!

How to Save Money as a Single Mom

Rebates saving money as a single mom

What to watch for and how to save money as a single mom.

Many manufacturers provide mail-in rebates to encourage customers to purchase their merchandise.  The way that these rebates work is you need to pay the entire cost for the item when you buy it.   But you'll be stunned at how many men and women don't get around to sending in the data due to their rebate.

Most suppliers have a set timeframe so it's a fantastic idea to acquire the data in a folder. Then fill everything out as promptly as possible.  Mom's and Dad's mess out on a lot of money by not completing the rebate process.

As it may take weeks to receive your rebate in the mail, it's a great idea to maintain a record of the rebates you've sent in.  Always make a copy of the rebate info and the reception before you mail it in.

The sums of rebates will vary but should you consider the typical rebate is about $25. That's a lot of money that customers are not benefiting from.  It's a great idea to always follow through on them as this money can really benefit single mom's.  Otherwise, you're just throwing away your money.

Each rebate procedure might be marginally different, Make sure you take some opportunity to read all of the info which accompanies it.  You do not need the frustration of waiting patiently for 60 days to find the rebate simply to acquire a letter rather that states you are not qualified because you neglected to supply some part of the requirements or your rebate was not completely filled out.

It's also a fantastic idea to do it as soon after you buy an item.

Haven't heard from them after 30 days then you might want to follow up on the rebate. This will not occur very often but it's extremely important that you follow up.  If you just bought the product at the price provided due to the price than it's even more important for you to get it.Getting your rebate shouldn't exceed 60 days.  If you do not have it contact the corporation.  Ensure that you record all of the info about if you called and who you talked to.

Keep Good Records

It's very good to have a log of the information so that in the event that you would like to pursue obtaining the rebate by additional ways it is possible to back up your data. There are a few of good sites you can use to keep track of your lien or you can use a simple excel worksheet.

Nearly all company's who provide rebates do honor them.  There are loads of companies that do look ahead to the unclaimed rebates even though because at least 40 percent of these never get registered by the customer. As a rule of thumb, however, I would not recommend basing your buy on a rebate.

Saving Money as a Single Mom Might Require Your Personal Information

If you do not wind up with the money then the item price you more than you were ready to cover it.  As you await the rebate procedure to be finished you will have the reduction of the extra money that may be allocated to something different. You also need to be ready for rebates to request your personal information such as your name, address, contact number, and email address.  This may lead to you getting promotions and coupons which can save you more cash later on.  But, they could lead to you becoming bombarded with offers by the producer which you aren't considering.
